Rotterdam falls into fear again. Two shootings, the first in a private home and the second in a large university hospital, by a 32-year-old student who killed three people, a 39-year-old woman, her 14-year-old daughter and a 43-year-old teacher. The motive that would have led the man, who was later arrested by the police, to first shoot and then set fire in both places, sowing terror and death.
Police said the arrested man, a student at the hospital, was known to authorities from a previous animal cruelty conviction. Law enforcement initially said he was wearing “combat clothing,” was tall, had black hair and was carrying a backpack. However, it is currently believed that he only owned a firearm and there is no evidence that he had any accomplices. After his arrest, senior public prosecutor Hugo Hillenaar announced that he was cooperating with the police.
