Three people were arrested for their links to the kidnapping of seven young people last Sunday in the municipality of Villanueva, south of Zacatecas, as State Government Secretary Rodrigo Reyes reported this Wednesday on Radio Formula. On the same day, the lifeless bodies of six of the missing teenagers were found. Only one survived. The boy was taken to the State General Hospital with two head injuries and a broken nose.

The government secretary reported that the arrests took place on Tuesday and Wednesday. “Since yesterday [martes] Two people are arrested who are believed to be connected to this incident. Today [miércoles]“A few minutes ago, the secretary of the Ministry of Public Security informed me that another person was arrested in La Quemada, a nearby area in the municipality of Villanueva,” Reyes said.

The seven boys, aged between 14 and 18, were kidnapped by a group of armed men at 4am last Sunday. The missing people spent Saturday night at the El Potrerito ranch, property of one of the abductees’ parents, who gave his statement to EL PAÍS without identifying himself. The commando chasing the boys shot into the air as a threat and then they disappeared.

On Monday, authorities deployed a contingent of 300 forces from the Defense Secretariat, the National Guard and the city police to try to find the young people alive. The relatives of the disappeared complained that it was too late.

The discovery of six dead this Wednesday shocked the state of Zacatecas. The bodies were discovered by helicopter pilots in an area that was difficult to access due to a lack of roads. The first three were seen and when several agents arrived on the scene they found the other three still remaining. Next to him was the only survivor, who was immediately taken to a hospital because of his injuries.
