Two cars collided head-on on Highway 640 near mile 42 late Thursday afternoon.

According to the Sûreté du Québec, the accident occurred in the eastbound lane near the intersection with Highway 25.

Images captured by surveillance cameras at the Grenier Chrysler dealership in Montée Masson show the suspect may have been pursued by authorities before walking in the opposite direction.
According to a witness, the police vehicle collided with another car during the chase. The driver continued toward the entrance to Highway 25 South before colliding a few miles further.

One of the two vehicles reportedly caught fire following the collision, as seen in a video from a dealership employee.
Two people were taken to hospital, one with more serious injuries.
The entrance ramp to Highway 25 South has been closed indefinitely since 4:50 p.m. Thursday.
The images have not been authenticated by police authorities. The Sureté du Québec confirms that the file has been forwarded to the Bureau of Independent Investigations (BEI).
