Appeals court denies delay of Trump fraud trial in New York

New York – In the USA, a New York appeals court denied the postponement of the former president’s trial scheduled for October 2, requested by Donald Trump’s lawyers. In a brief ruling, a five-judge panel of the Appellate Division, a mid-level appeals court in Manhattan, rejected the postponement request on Thursday (local time). Trump had already suffered a major legal defeat in the fraud case on Tuesday, when Judge Arthur Engoron ruled that the businessman and his family’s company could be held liable for fraud. He also ordered the cancellation of business certificates for the Trump Organization and other defendant companies and imposed penalties on Trump’s lawyers. The former president’s lawyers could not immediately be reached for comment.
