The death toll
The two people killed in the Rotterdam shootings were a 39-year-old woman and a 42-year-old teacher at the Erasmus University Hospital. The woman’s 14-year-old daughter was seriously injured. The police said this at a press conference. The woman and her daughter were shot in the apartment where the first shooting occurred. The second took place at the University Hospital. A student was arrested for both.

“I heard shots and screams, there was panic everywhere. We ran to the exit, leaving all our personal belongings behind. It is the story heard by ANSA of 24-year-old Beniamino Vincenzoni, an Italian doctor living in the Netherlands who works at the Erasmus University Hospital Rotterdam, the scene of one of the two shootings with an as yet unknown number of victims. “The police arrested a 32-year-old man who entered one of the hospital’s classrooms and opened fire on a doctor-teacher who also called him by name before shooting him,” said Vincenzoni, who did not rule one out personal motive.

At least one dead and three injured
At least one person died in two shootings in Rotterdam today. NL Times writes, adding that three were injured. The two shootings occurred in an apartment and at the Erasmus University Hospital in Rotterdam. The first shooting occurred in an apartment in western Rotterdam. Shortly afterwards, shots were fired in a classroom at the university hospital about 1.5 km away. There were fires in both locations that were extinguished. Parts of the University Hospital were evacuated, with doctors, patients and nurses displaced as armed security forces surrounded the building. Some patients were brought out on a stretcher or in a wheelchair. A 32-year-old man wearing a camouflage suit was arrested at the hospital’s helipad. Police believe he is solely responsible for the two shootings. According to some witnesses quoted by Dutch News, the man shot the person who was giving the lecture in the university lecture hall.

Two shootings and fires were also set
This afternoon there were two shootings in Rotterdam in which several people were killed. According to local media, the arrested suspect also set a fire. The first shooting occurred in a house on Heiman Dullaertplein in the Delfshaven district. He then allegedly shot in a classroom at Erasmus University and then broke into a hospital, where he set a second fire. Police believe he acted alone and that there are no other suspects. The man was wearing military clothing.
