“A true pleasure and privilege to work with Denys Arcand” – Caroline Néron

“I have the impression that my big comeback continues,” admits the actress Caroline Néron, who can be seen in Will, the new film by Denys Arcand, which was added to the series this week STAT.

With “Testament”, which will be released in cinemas on October 5th, she will be following up again with director Denys Arcand, who directed her in the 2007 film “The Age of Darkness”. To interpret this priest who doesn’t have his tongue in his pocket, the actress says she rehearsed her long monologues at home for two months. She wanted to know them perfectly by heart so that she could arrive on set with complete freedom.

“It was a big challenge, I loved my role. “It is a real pleasure and a privilege to work with Denys Arcand, who is a monument to Quebec,” explains the actress, who met her on the red carpet of Testament in Montreal last Monday.

She clarifies that while Denys Arcand is known for being close to his artists and trusting them completely, the pressure to perform simply comes from the fact of working with someone she says she is “a big fan of.” .

Absence of 10 years

Caroline Néron, the businesswoman, was absent from the big and small screens for almost ten years. Her return to the sets came with her role as an eccentric and depressed mother in the feature film “The Goddess of Fire Flies” by Anaïs Barbeau-Lavalette in 2020, as well as her participation in Luc Dionne’s popular series “District 31”.

Freshly arrived at the STAT Hospital Saint-Vincent in the guise of the “special investigator” that all the staff have been waiting for, she confirms that she loves the experience of filming in a daily series.

“It was great news and a big challenge because you have to adapt to the pace. We also joined a team that had already existed for a year, but they were all such good people, it was easy and warm,” says the artist, who celebrated his 50th birthday this year.

It was also a moment of reunion with the actor Normand D’Amour (Doctor Pascal St-Cyr), who played the role of her husband in the feature film “The Flying Goddesses” – and with whom she only had very intense scenes.

His daughter in his wake

During this busy year, Caroline Néron starred in the film Ana Kiri Superstar by Francis Bordeleau (she plays a confident and glamorous businesswoman, duh!) and in Molosse, the next short film by Marc-Antoine Lemire.

“He is a young director (he is thirty years old) who I admire and who was in love with me. “It’s a very hard, very difficult role, a slightly crazy woman,” says the actress, who we will also discover in another project that she has to keep secret for the time being.

Emanuelle Gagné-Néron accompanies her mother on the red carpet of the will and agrees. At the age of 13, the young actress has been following in her mother’s footsteps for several years. We saw her talent in the series Ruptures, Alarms and District 31 where she generally played heavy and intense roles.

“We repeat ourselves. She is excellent at giving me the answer,” says Caroline Néron.

We will find Emanuelle later this year in the family saga “In Memoriam”, which will star Evelyne Brochu, Éric Bruneau and Catherine Brunet. She landed the role of teenage character Evelyne Brochu, who appears in the flashbacks.

“It’s a very heavy and dark series with very heavy scenes. She did the role well, they are super happy,” the mother continues proudly.
