Quebec City Film Festival: five notable red carpets since 2011

Before receiving the stars from willOn Friday evening at the Théâtre Le Diamant, the Quebec City Film Festival repeatedly rolled out its red carpet for the stars of Quebec films that have appeared in its program over the years. Here are five red carpets that marked the FCVQ.

It’s so fun to see the late Jean-Marc Vallée again. To open this brand new 2011 festival dedicated to the seventh art with great enthusiasm, the organizers of FCVQ were lucky enough to welcome the Café de Flore team on the opening evening. The filmmaker was surrounded in particular by the actors Hélène Florent, Rosalie Fortier, Evelyne Brochu and Kevin Parent.

A few months after shaking up the Croisette at the Cannes Film Festival, Xavier Dolan detoured to Quebec to present “Mommy,” which remains the gold medal of his brilliant discography. Suzanne Clément, Anne Dorval and Antoine Olivier Pilon were also there that evening and ensured a huge crowd.

They were right to smile, the architects of the cinematic adaptation of the graphic novel “Paul à Québec”. The weather was nice and a shiny vintage car awaited them at the foot of the Palais Montcalm, where films were shown at the time. We recognize the cartoonist Michel Rabagliati, the actors François Létourneau and Julie Le Breton, the director François Bouvier, the actresses Louise Portal and Karine Vanasse. In front is the young Shanti Corbeil-Gauvreau.

Little did we know, but FCVQ 2019 would be the last to publicly roll out its red carpet for several years as the pandemic hung over us. Cinema veterans such as Gilbert Sicotte and Rémy Girard came to support director Louise Archambault in the presentation of “It was Raining Birds.”
