Apple will address the overheating problem of its new iPhone 15 – L’Écho de Maskinongé

According to Apple, it is a software problem that would be the cause of the overheating problems of the new iPhone 15 models. Apple emphasizes that popular applications such as Instagram and Uber are also responsible for this.

The California-based company announced on Saturday that it is currently working on an update to its iOS17 system installed on the iPhone 15s to fix the problem that causes some phones to become too hot to hold in their hands to keep.

The American giant also says that it is working with the developers of applications that “overload the system.”

Instagram, which is owned by Meta, released an update earlier this week to fix the overheating issue. However, this still does not apply to Uber and games like Asphalt 9. However, Apple assures that these applications will also be updated quickly.

Without providing an exact timeline for rolling out the update to its operating system, Apple reiterated that there are no security issues preventing iPhone 15 owners from continuing to use their device while they wait for the issue to be resolved.

“We have identified some conditions that are causing iPhone to become warmer than usual,” Apple confirmed in a statement sent to the Associated Press.

The existence of the overheating problem was already circulating in online discussion forums, but the topic took on a whole new dimension after an article was published in the Wall Street Journal, which was able to confirm, based on its own tests, that the iPhone was on sale for a week, unusual at certain times overheated.

The titanium frame is out of the question

It’s normal for an iPhone to become slightly warm in the first few days of use or when retrieving data stored in the cloud – Apple is already warning users that such situations can occur.

CPU-intensive activities like video games and augmented reality apps can also cause the phone to get hot, but the problem reported with the iPhone 15 goes beyond these typical situations.

Apple clarified in its statement that the issue is not related to the new titanium frame used on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. This material replaced the stainless steel used in recent years’ models.

Apple also added that the issue is in no way related to the new USB-C charging port that replaced the Lightning port this year.

Even as Apple promises to resolve the overheating issue quickly, the fact remains that it could slow sales of its flagship product, at a time when the company has seen three quarters in a row of year-over-year declines in overall revenue.

Notably, iPhone sales fell 4% year over year in the nine months of Apple’s last three fiscal quarters.
