Big wave of cuts among Canadians

Big wave of cuts among Canadians

The Montreal Canadiens made several cuts before their game against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday afternoon.

The hopefuls Joshua Roy, Owen Beck and Filip Mesar are particularly worried.

Roy and Mesar will be attending Laval Rocket Camp starting Monday, October 2nd. Beck, for his part, was returned to his junior team in the OHL, the Peterborough Petes. It is understood that the 19-year-old Beck is ineligible to play in the American League this season.

A total of 25 players will join the Rocket Camp. In addition to Roy and Mesar, there are strikers Gabriel Bourque, Jared Davidson, Isaac Dufort, Brandon Gignac, Nathan Légaré, Riley McKay, Jan Mysak, Jakov Novak, Xavier Simoneau, Ty Smilanic, Alex-Olivier Voyer and Nolan Yaremko. Among the defenders we find Tobie Bisson, Stanislav Demin, Olivier Galipeau, Noah Laaouan, Christopher Ortiz, John Parker-Jones, Jayden Struble and Miguël Tourigny. Between the two contributions we will see Zachary Émond, Strauss Mann and Joe Vrbetic.

If we take into account the four players who were recently placed on waivers, that’s 30 players left out of Canadiens camp.

Thirty-eight players (20 forwards, 13 defensemen and five goaltenders) continue to participate in Habs camp, which continues with a preseason game against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday evening at the Bell Centre.
