The cause of Len Goodman’s death was announced months after the “Dancing with the Stars” judge died at the age of 78.

Goodman’s death certificate states that he died after prostate cancer spread to his bones, according to a report by The Daily Express.

On April 22, Goodman’s agent confirmed that the Strictly Come Dancing judge had died “peacefully, surrounded by his family” in hospital.

Goodman was a judge on the BBC ballroom competition Strictly Come Dancing and the US adaptation Dancing with the Stars on ABC. The television star withdrew from the ABC reality competition after its 31st season, saying he wanted to spend more time with his family.

“It was a great pleasure to be a big part of such a wonderful show,” Goodman said back in November 2022 during the DWTS semifinals. “I can’t thank you enough, the DWTS family. It was a wonderful experience for me. I’m looking forward to the finale next week. I’m sure it will be absolutely brilliant.”

Born in London on April 25, 1944, Goodman was a professional dancer who won numerous awards in the decades before his television work. In addition to Strictly Come Dancing, Goodman has appeared on television several times, including hosting Len Goodman’s Dance Band Days and Len Goodman’s Perfect Christmas on the BBC. He also presented BBC One’s Holiday of My Lifetime and most recently made a surprise appearance in Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks.

Goodman is survived by his wife, Sue Barrett, and son, James Goodman.
