NFL in London: The Jaguars dominate… in the toy box

The NFL has continued to innovate to make its games interesting to a wide audience, and that lies within the universe of the film Toy story as the Jacksonville Jaguars and Atlanta Falcons squared off on Sunday.

In the real world, this meeting took place in a packed Wembley Stadium, and the Jaguars won comfortably 23 to 7. The Florida team is used to traveling abroad, it was their ninth visit to London’s largest stadium.

On television you could watch the game from a different angle, accompanied by the cowboy Woody, Buzz Lightyear and their friends. Chips were placed in each player’s shoulder pads, allowing a very faithful animated version of the game to be followed.

Trevor Lawrence provided the essentials for the Jaguars with 23 successful passes in 30 attempts for 207 yards and a touchdown. The quarterback ran eight times and set his cleats on fire on the field in Andy’s room.

In the first quarter, Lawrence found Calvin Ridley in the end zone for the touchdown. Darious Williams also surprised everyone with an interception that returned 61 yards for the majors. Kicker Brandon McManus stood out with three field goals, including a 56-yarder.

After being shut out in the first half, the Falcons got into the game in the third quarter when Desmond Ridder connected with Drake London in the penalty area.

The Jaguars will remain in England all week before meeting the Buffalo Bills at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium next Sunday.
