Ethiopia is hosting a conference on human capital in Africa

Addis Ababa, October 2 (Prensa Latina) Advancing the development of Africa’s human capital through skills development and job creation is the aim of an event starting today in Ethiopia.

Themed “The Future of Employment, Employability and Skills in Africa”, the second Human Capital Development Conference in Africa will take place until tomorrow, bringing together prominent speakers, panel discussions and access to industry-leading knowledge and best practices.

It will also provide a platform for stakeholders across the continent to network, share knowledge and develop common solutions to the most critical challenges in human capital development, the Ethiopian News Agency said.

The conference is a platform developed by private consulting firm i-Capital Africa Institute to shape the future by fostering collaboration, developing labor market strategies, proposing policies and identifying solutions.

Minister of State for Labor and Skills Teshale Berecha explained that consultations will be held during the meeting on how to improve coordination between governments, the private sector and other relevant bodies in the field of human resource development.

Berecha explained that this will be a conducive place to exchange experiences on the current state of the international labor and skills market and will also significantly contribute to adapting solutions to gaps in job creation and strengthening links between industry and educational institutions.

Other issues that need to be addressed include matching skills demand and supply in Africa, the school-to-work transition, volunteering and internships, ensuring the quality of skills and jobs in the public administration sector, and supporting the private sector in promotion employability

The event is organized by the Ministry of Labor and Skills, the German Society for International Cooperation, the non-profit organization Association for Talent Development in Ethiopia and the i-Capital Africa Institute.
