‘John Wick’ spin-off series delights fans of cult franchise – as Katie McGrath steals the show in her masked portrayal

A newly released John Wick TV series on Amazon Prime has received a seal of approval from fans of the franchise – even though it doesn’t feature the protagonist himself.

“The Continental,” which originally premiered on American streaming service Peacock, became available to stream internationally on Amazon Prime Video on September 22nd.

The three-part series features an established cast including Mel Gibson, Colin Woodell, Peter Greene, Ayomide Adegun, Jeremy Bobb, Hubert Point-Du Jour, Jessica Allain, Mishel Prada, Nhung Kate and Ben Robson.

They are also joined by Katie McGrath Ray McKinnon, Adam Shapiro, Mark Musashi and Marina Mazepa, who were announced as additional cast members in February.

Set in 1975 New York City, the series explores the origins of the Continental Hotel, which served as a haven for assassins in the John Wick films, and Winston Scott, played by Colin Woodell.

However, it is Katie McGrath – who has starred in Jurassic World and the BBC series Merlin – who seems to have been stealing the show so far, captivating viewers with her performance as The Adjudicator.

The Adjudicator is a High Table agent first introduced in John Wick Chapter 3 who has the authority to act and make decisions on behalf of The High Table and The Elder.

In this spin-off series, she appears to be non-violent, serving only as a messenger while her henchmen do their dirty work – but she hides the lower half of her face with a plastic geisha-style mask, shrouding the character’s mystery.
