Victor Mete couldn’t convince the Flyers

Defenseman Victor Mete couldn’t break through the Philadelphia Flyers’ lineup.

On Monday, the Pennsylvania club granted the 25-year-old a waiver with the aim of sending him to the American Hockey League.

Mete was hired by the Flyers via the free-agent market last July. The Ontario native signed a two-part contract.

The guard was selected in the fourth round (100th overall) of the 2016 draft by the Montreal Canadiens and played his first four seasons of professional ice hockey with the team from the Quebec metropolis. During this time he mainly played for the big club. Mete scored four goals and 30 assists for 34 points in 185 games with the Habs.

CH registered his name on waivers in April 2021 and he was claimed by the Ottawa Senators. Mete developed in the federal capital for just over a season. Last year he played for the Toronto Maple Leafs organization, but only played 11 games in the National League.
