The island, popular with travelers from around the world, has pledged to crack down on inappropriate behavior by certain tourists following a series of incidents, including acts of disrespect towards Bali’s dominant Hindu culture.
Police identified this man, but neither his nationality nor his name have been released while the person remains under investigation.
“We are continuing our investigation into this incident,” said Tedy Riyandi, head of the immigration department, in a press release sent to AFP.
The immigration department is making “attempts to contact the wanted man’s social media account, but so far there has been no response,” Mr Riyandi said.
The video went viral after it was reposted several times by a Balinese influencer, Ni Luh Djelantik.
Stormed by tourists again after the Covid-19 wave, the island of Bali regularly expels tourists for inappropriate behavior.
In June, a Danish woman was expelled for exhibitionism while riding a motorcycle, and in April a Russian woman was expelled from the country for posting a photo of herself naked in front of a sacred tree.
In June, following pressure from the island’s immigration department, the local government published a guide for tourists wishing to visit Bali.
