After the Hollywood strike ends: Netflix wants to increase its prices – TVA Nouvelles

After more than a year without a price change, Netflix now plans to increase the price of its ad-free service, a few months after the end of the major strike by Hollywood actors and screenwriters.

Netflix would then follow in the footsteps of most of its competitors, who also had to raise their prices last year, according to the Wall Street Journal.

The increase would initially affect the United States and Canada before expanding to other markets around the world.

However, it has not yet been specified how high the new price increase would be and when it would come into force, American media said.

Most streaming services have increased their prices by almost 25% in the past year. These increases would encourage consumers to use the cheapest service, but with advertising that is considered the most profitable for these platforms.

The last price increase at Netflix dates back to January 2022. The platform is waiting for the official end of the strike in Hollywood, which is approaching since an agreement in principle was finally reached last week between the studios and the Screen Actors Guild and the Writers Guild of America.
