The Toyota 4Runner is the oldest vehicle in the Toyota lineup. Hell, he’s one of the oldest in the business. The last redesign took place in 2009 for the year 2010.
Some believed that the 2023 model year would be the big change for this model, but with the arrival of a new Tacoma and the return of the Land Cruiser, the company had other things to fry.

However, 2024 would be the last year for the 4Runner in this form as the company prepares its replacement for 2025. All of this has yet to be confirmed, of course, but in the meantime, enthusiasts have another full year to get their hands on this classic.
In the 15th year of marketing the fifth-generation model, we shouldn’t be surprised to see it without any major changes, aside from minor touch-ups like the color choices. For example, the 4Runner TRD Pro version can benefit from the same reddish-brown Terra color as the new 2024 Tacoma. The rest of the range is also available in a new color called Underground.
Otherwise we should always find the same versions in the menu, namely SR5, TRD Sport, Limited, TRD Off-Road and TRD Pro. The first information about the 2024 model comes from the USA and differences between markets are always possible, which always calls for caution.
In addition, you always find the same thing with this vehicle, namely a slightly archaic handling that is attractive, a bit like the experience you can have with a Jeep Wrangler, although the 4Runner is more civilized. The interior is dated, but those who like the more traditional side of period dashboards will be catered to with pretty dials, a small multimedia screen, an array of easy-to-use buttons, and fewer distractions than in more modern vehicles.
Mechanically, the 270hp 4.0-litre V6 engine is far from a sophisticated unit, and even less fuel-efficient, but it does give you a dream level of reliability. The same applies to the associated five-speed automatic transmission. Yes, five courses!
Let’s assume we won’t recognize the next 4Runner either mechanically or technologically.
