Kelsey Grammer breaks down in tears as she emotionally addresses Frasier studio audience for upcoming Paramount+ revival: ‘My love for this character is very sweet’

Kelsey Grammer became emotional as he addressed the live studio audience during the taping of his Frasier reboot.

The 68-year-old star was seen crying on the set of the revival in a video released by Paramount+, just weeks after the first trailer for the highly anticipated series was released.

The original series “Frasier” aired on NBC for eleven seasons from September 1993 to May 2004.

Kelsey was greeted with a standing ovation from the studio audience before she grabbed a microphone to address them.

He enjoys the moment as he returns to his favorite character, Frasier Crane, and says, “I’m glad you’re here.” I can’t tell you how grateful I am that you’re here, and how grateful we are, that we have the chance to do this again for you.

“I’m really excited about what we’re doing, this new group of people that you can fall in love with and get to know.” “We’ve been working on this thing so hard and for quite a while, and I think we have achieved something really beautiful.”

Then he becomes visibly emotional and even sheds a tear or two.

Grammer said, “My love for this character is very sweet. ‘I wish that for you!’

Last month, Kelsey was featured as his most iconic character in the first official trailer for his reboot of Frasier.

The Paramount+ series, in which the eponymous psychiatrist relocates to Boston after leaving his home in Seattle, chronicles his attempts to reconnect with his adult son Frederick “Freddy” Crane (Jack Cutmore-Scott).

Along the way, Grammer makes a lot of jokes about Frasier’s cocky behavior while hanging out at a bar with his fellow educated buddies.

The series premieres on October 12th on Paramount+ in the US and October 13th in the UK and Ireland.

Although the new “Frasier” is ostensibly a revival of the popular 1990s and 2000s series of the same name, it features few of the original cast aside from its star.

Missing from the new cast are John Mahoney, who played Frasier’s father and died in 2018, David Hyde Pierce, who played Frasier’s brother Niles, and Jane Leeves, who played Niles’ future wife Daphne.

Frasier, who was first introduced to audiences on the wildly popular sitcom Cheers before getting his own spin-off series, shares his son Freddy with his ex-wife Lilith (Bebe Neuwirth).

The mother-son duo had originally lived in Boston during the original series’ timeline, although Neuwirth and original Frederick actor Trevor Einhorn made guest appearances on the series.

At the time of Frasier’s move to the East Coast, Freddy is now an adult and living with his girlfriend Eve (Jess Salgueiro).

Frasier highlights his new location in the opening lines of the trailer, while also alluding to his past as a regular on Cheers.

“What is it about the city of Boston that makes me give up the more sophisticated temptation of the fermented grape?” he says haughtily, holding a mug of beer in his hand.

“When I sit here with a cold brew in my hand, I feel merged with the hoi polloi,” he explains proudly.

“You’re the classic everyman,” jokes his friend Alan Cornwall. Nicholas Lyndhurst plays Alan, a college friend of Frasier’s who is now a professor in Boston.

The trailer adds that Frasier is “basically the same” as he clumsily steps into his son’s formerly independent life.

Back at the bar, Frasier’s mood worsens as he tells his friends about his meeting with his son.

“What’s wrong with your son?” asks Olivia (Toks Olagundoye), the chair of an Ivy League psychology department.

Undeterred, Frasier visits Freddy again to tell him, “I miss you and I don’t take no for an answer.”

Frasier then accepts a job offer in Olivia’s psychiatric ward, solidifying his new life in Boston.

Meanwhile, Freddy complains to his girlfriend Eve about his father invading his life, but all she can think about is how “good” he smells.

“Yeah, it smells really good,” agrees Freddy, to a laugh from the audience.

Frasier then reveals how tense he is when Freddy visits him in his new home and tries to sit on his fancy sofa.

“Don’t sit down!” his father shouts before telling him that he can’t sit on the “Christian Lacroix” cushions.

“So we can’t sit on the couch?” Freddy clarifies.

“Not in jeans,” Frasier replies.

After a brief montage, the trailer ends with Frasier making a toast to Freddy.

“I have some scotch if that sounds good,” says Freddy. ‘Top shelf.’

‘Naturally! “Nothing less,” Frasier replies, before his son clarifies that he meant the bottle was on the top shelf. Then his father looks at it in disgust, realizing it’s a less fancy plastic jug.
