The representatives of the diplomatic legations of Argentina, Eduardo Zuain, and Bolivia, María Luisa Ramos, reported to those present, mostly students of the Faculty of Foreign Affairs at Saint Petersburg State University, about the decades-long bilateral relations in the political, economic and social spheres.
“Throughout history there have been many coincidences and also some differences that unite us, so clearly, for example, our country does not comply with commercial economic sanctions of any kind,” said Zuain.
The diplomat also recognized the greatness of the Russian people in their victory against fascism and how these actions served to stabilize the world order at the time.
On the other hand, he thanked Russia for betting on Argentina’s membership in the Brics+ countries and, in this sense, advocated that the group creates a good environment for a new international financial architecture that favors the development of countries and not debt .
In this context, the Bolivian ambassador confirmed that her country is also interested in joining the Brics group (Brazil, Russia, China, South Africa), as this is the new format that the emerging multipolar order needs.
“Brics is exactly the space for dialogue in which we can question all of the members’ interests. “Brics” is not just the acronym, it is also its meaning, and Bolivia feels part of it precisely because we identify with these visions and these discussions,” emphasized Ramos.
The head of the Bolivian embassy also confirmed that her government is “absolutely against unilateral sanctions because they are a blackmail mechanism, it is nothing else.” The world has never experienced such a great danger as now that countries’ logistics chains are being disrupted .”
Both ambassadors agreed that the first duty of a diplomat was to maintain peace for their nations as a prerequisite for any process and the second challenge they held was the responsibility to bring development to the people.
