A 76-year-old Florida woman was filmed fleeing the scene of an accident while the other driver lay on the hood of her SUV.
According to the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office, Cheryl Henderson of Palm Coast was involved in a collision with a pickup truck on Belle Terre Parkway Saturday afternoon.
The driver of the Ford truck blocked Henderson’s path with his vehicle to prevent him from escaping. According to ClickOrlando, he then exited his vehicle and physically blocked her path.
However, the 70-year-old managed to maneuver her SUV around the van, causing the driver to jump on the hood, officials said.
Witnesses reported seeing the elderly person fleeing southbound with the man on the hood of the car, surveillance video released by the sheriff’s office shows.
Henderson drove about 2 miles at speeds up to 50 mph, with the man holding onto her hood, before a good Samaritan forced her to stop, the New York Post reports.
The concerned citizen pulled her vehicle in front of Henderson’s, slowed down, and eventually forced her to stop.
“I didn’t know how long I could last,” the Ford driver said to the woman who came to his aid.
When officers arrived on scene, they immediately arrested Henderson. She tried to defend herself and said it was the other driver’s fault because he jumped on her hood.

Questioned by investigators, Henderson claimed she didn’t stop because she was running out of gas. According to the New York Post, she also claimed that she tried to quit but couldn’t.
Henderson was charged with hit-and-run resulting in property damage and bodily harm. She was released from jail Sunday evening after posting $20,000 bail.
