A candy with a rolling ball attached to a holder was recalled ahead of Halloween following the death of a 7-year-old girl earlier this year, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced Thursday.
Cocco Candy of Turkey and KGR Distribution in New Jersey are recalling nearly 146,000 units of the candy because the rolling ball can become detached and become lodged in a child’s throat, the CPSC said.
The agency said it received a report last April in New York of a 7-year-old girl who suffocated as a result of the candy.
“Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled rolls, take them away from children and contact KGR Distribution Corp. for a refund.” apply,” the CPSC said.

The agency said the roll candies come in a variety of flavors, including Sour Strawberry, Sour Tutti Frutti and Sour Cola.
The candy was made in Turkey and sold in U.S. stores and online at kgrcandies.com between May 2022 and March last year.

The agency said consumers can contact KGR toll-free at (888) 802-8823 Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET or email the company at [email protected] to receive a refund. Buyers can also visit the “Recall Information” section on their website kgrcandies.com.
On Thursday, the CSPC also announced the recall of Slime Licker Sour Rolling Liquid Candy because it also poses a choking hazard.
Candy Dynamics’ product, sold between June 2015 and July this year, had a rolling ball that could also come loose and cause choking, the agency said.

The Indiana-based company is recalling approximately 70 million units of the candy after receiving two reports of the ball coming off. No injuries were reported.
The affected candies were packaged in blue (Blue Razz), red (Strawberry), green (Sour Apple) and pink (Black Cherry) with the brand “TOXIC WASTE” and “SLIME LICKER Sour Rolling Liquid Candy” or “MEGA TOXIC WASTE” sold. Brand and “SLIME LICKER Sour Rolling Liquid Candy” printed on front label.
The candy was made in Spain and Colombia.
