Months after leaving the White House, former American President Donald Trump revealed potentially top-secret information about US nuclear submarines to a client of his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida: an Australian billionaire, who in turn shared information with at least 45 other people, including six journalists, 11 of his staff, 10 Australian executives and three former Australian prime ministers. This was reported by ABC News, citing sources familiar with the matter, which was reported to special counsel Jack Smith, who is investigating Mar-a-Lago’s secret papers.
Prosecutors and FBI agents have questioned Australian tycoon Anthony Pratt, who runs U.S.-based Pratt Industries, one of the world’s largest packaging companies, at least twice this year. According to ABC News, Pratt has recounted how he tried to talk to Trump during a meeting at Mar-a-Lago in April 2021 when he brought up the U.S. submarine fleet, which the two had previously discussed had. At one point he told him that he thought Australia should start buying its submarines from the United States. An excited Trump then — leaning toward Pratt as if to be discreet — confided in him two pieces of information about U.S. submarines: the supposedly exact number of nuclear warheads they routinely carry, and how exactly they are capable of attacking a Russian submarine.
