The son of the co-founder of a Buc-ee’s store was arrested for secretly recording dozens of guests at his father’s multimillion-dollar lake house in Texas.
28-year-old Mitchell Wasek faces charges of invasive imaging in 28 different state prisons. He is said to have recorded at least 13 people using the toilets at the lake house and other properties.
He is accused of secretly “going to the toilet, showering, changing clothes and/or having sex” between men and women.
Wasek, the son of Buc-ee’s co-founder Donald Wasek, was arrested Tuesday in Travis County.
The drama unfolded when police received a telephone complaint in May about improper photography at a home on the shores of Lake Travis in Texas that belonged to Donald Wasek.

A woman said she and some friends were visiting the property with Mitchell Wasek when one of the group members, who works in cybersecurity for the Department of Defense, discovered a charging port with a hidden camera plugged into her bathroom wall.
The group set out with the camera and discovered dozens of videos on the microcard of themselves and others in bedrooms and bathrooms at the Lake House and Mitchell Wasek’s Dallas apartment.
“They were unaware that the recordings were in the bedroom and bathroom and stated that they did not consent to the recording or being photographed,” the arrest affidavit states.
The woman told the Tulsa County Sheriff that a police report had been filed with the Dallas Police Department and that the camera and microcard had been turned over to her.
A search warrant was obtained to examine the camera’s contents and 68 film files were discovered featuring at least 13 men and women filmed “using the toilet, showering, changing clothes and/or having sex.”

The videos were found to have been taken in multiple locations dating back to 2021, including a condo in downtown Austin and a vacation home in Telluride, Colorado, both owned by Mitchell Wasek’s parents.
“Spy camera” purchases have also been linked to Mitchell Wasek using Amazon records.
All of the complainants stated that Mitchell Wasek was present at the time of the offenses, but said that no other member of the Wasek family was there during that time.
Wasek was released from jail after posting $280,000 bail.
Founded in 1982 and known for its immaculate bathrooms, Buc-ee’s now has 34 stores across Texas, including the largest grocery store in the world, as well as 12 locations in other states.
According to a 2017 Forbes report, Don Wasek, who owned his own business, joined the company three years later.
