To celebrate its tenth anniversary, famed graphic design platform Canva is stepping up a gear thanks to Studio Magique, a suite of artificial intelligence tools that could well put Photoshop to shame.
We no longer feature Canva. In the ten years of its existence, the graphic design platform, which can be used both online through a web browser and in the form of a mobile application, has attracted many users around the world thanks to two advantages: first, its ease of use, a few minutes are enough even for beginners to create professional-quality documents without having to master complex software such as Photoshop, Illustrator or InDesign; then its freemium-like economic model with many completely free and other paid features – obviously the most advanced. And to celebrate this symbolic anniversary, Canva has decided to shift gears and strengthen its artificial intelligence capabilities.

The platform has just announced the launch of Studio Magique, a suite of tools powered by generative AI that allows you to create graphical documents even more easily using simple descriptions. Arriving at the right time, this new range of products is obviously immediately reminiscent of Firefly, the generative AI that Adobe has just added to its flagship software programs such as the indispensable Photoshop. But Canva goes one step further and offers a new text generation tool. And above all without changing the economic model. Since most of Studio Magique’s features are free, only a few tools are reserved for the paid plan Canva Pro, which is billed as a subscription for 11.99 euros per month!

Canva Studio Magique: an impressive AI toolkit
Média Magique allows you to generate images and even videos from simple text descriptions like Midjourney or Dall-E. To use it, just a few words are needed to bring an image or video to life. We can also use AI by providing it with a short video clip that serves as a model for the sequence to be created.
Additionally, Canva regulars will no doubt be delighted to discover Design Magique. Thanks to its easy handling, you can quickly create graphic montages from text queries. Finally, the Magic Transformation tool is quickly being adopted by professionals working in various media. In fact, this feature is capable of converting content into multiple versions adapted to each platform or channel. It can instantly change the format, language and dimensions of designs, eliminating countless complex manipulations – many graphic designers’ nightmare when asked to change publication format!

Canva doesn’t stop at creation. Thanks to artificial intelligence, the platform can offer advanced editing tools such as Magic Enlargement, which allows you to expand an image using its context, and Magic Edit, which deletes unwanted elements. In addition, there is Magic Animation, an option that allows creations to be animated on demand. To use it, you no longer have to manually select and position animations and transitions. Animation Magique takes care of it. The tool also customizes the timings for the user.
As we can see, Canva is very much pushing the use of AI to support its users in both pure creation and transformation. Enough to save time but also easy to find ideas when you lack inspiration. I’m not sure if the launch of Studio Magique will please Adobe, which sells its tools and especially its Firefly AI very expensively …
