Actor Kayky Brito could pocket more than R$84,500 as a result of a lawsuit he is filing in court against CDesign Hotel. He was the victim of a car accident in early September and spent 27 days in the hospital, including 20 in intensive care. The actor called for the confiscation of the proceeds known as the “money mouth” of the hotel, located in Recreio dos Bandeirantes, in the West Zone of Rio de Janeiro.
Kayky bought an apartment in the hotel in 2015. At that time, the actor paid almost R$ 127,600 for the property and was able to pay the amount in installments. Due to the financial crisis that hit the country, the artist no longer had a chance to continue paying the unit.
According to columnist Ancelmo Gois from the newspaper O Globo, Kayky then appealed against one of the contract clauses. The article noted that Kayky could request a refund of the amount already paid, but the hotel did not reimburse the actor.
The trial will take place in the 6th Civil Court of Barra da Tijuca. Through his lawyers, Kayky attempted to seize the case online but received no response. The actor’s defense claims that the hotel in question is able to pay its debts since the daily rates range from R$500 to R$2,000.
