“Our beautiful boy has RSV bronchitis after he was just told by the doctors he had a cold to go home and rest.”

“Thank God we went to hospital at the right time and the nurses and doctors were great and put him on oxygen straight away. We will be here until next week, but we are in the right place and in safe hands.”

“Thank you for all your messages. I love you all. I just have to focus on making him feel better now. It’s scary when they’re so little, and seeing him with all those tubes makes him not want to let go.”

According to the NHS, bronchiolitis is caused by a viral infection, most commonly the respiratory syncytial virus (RSV).

RSV is very common and spreads easily through coughing and sneezing. Almost all children have it by the age of two.

She told her followers how she took Jude to the doctor earlier in the week but they told her he was a little chesty but nothing major.

They assured her that he would be fine and that she would keep an eye on him, but to call if she was worried.

She went on to say that Jude started screaming on Tuesday night. She told her followers: “I just knew something wasn’t right, it’s a mother’s instinct, you just know something’s wrong.” He actually screamed.

“On Wednesday night the screaming started again, like he was in a lot of pain and I just knew it wasn’t right and not like Jude at all.” I kept sending voice notes to Matthew because he was in the next room and I woke him up and was like, ” Look, something’s wrong here.”

Charlotte took Jude to the doctor again, who told her it could be colic but that his chest was clear and she should go home. They added that if she was really worried she could take him to the hospital but would wait a while.

Charlotte took Jude home and then continued: “The wheezing started, he couldn’t breathe, his condition deteriorated enormously and he still wouldn’t eat anything from me.”

She said she then decided to take him to hospital, saying: “The nurses said, ‘Thank God you came now because his oxygen levels are so low’.” They saw me straight away, they were so good to me.

“His complexion was gray.” A terrible, terrible color. His eyes were all swollen and red and then they took us straight to the ward and took an X-ray of him. Obviously he had to have blood samples and everything. It was traumatic.

“It’s just awful seeing all those tubes in your baby’s face and even though it’s obviously helping him and we’re in really safe hands here, it’s just so hard and I’ve had to leave the room a few times.”

Charlotte then explained that the tests revealed that Jude had RSV bronchitis and that they would be staying in the hospital for the next few days because he was so young.

The star assured fans that she saw a change in her little one and even got a few smiles from him, but that he was really having trouble breathing.

“He feeds from me, which is amazing, and from the tube, so I pump. ‘I’m like Daisy the wheezing cow here!’ she joked.

The mother-of-two, who gave birth to her second son Jude with her fiancé, rugby player Matt Sarsfield, at the end of July, said she “can’t stand how scary it was”.

The couple also share son Noah, who turned two in January.
