The Biden administration has repealed nearly 26 federal laws in South Texas that allow construction of a border wall to prevent immigrant arrivals.

As the Department of Homeland Security announced in the US Federal Register, construction of the wall in Starr County, Texas, could extend up to 20 miles (32 kilometers).

And although only a few days have passed since the start of the current fiscal year (October 1), approximately 245,000 illegal entries have already been recorded through the Rio Grande Valley sector.

Some of the laws Joe Biden is exempting include the Clean Air Act, the Safe Drinking Water Act and the Endangered Species Act.

Starr County Judge Eloy Vera said the barrier will begin south of Falcon Dam and run through Salineño.

If you doubt these measures, they will have consequences for the environment: public lands and habitats of endangered plants would be crossed by the wall structures, not to mention the impact they could have on species such as the ocelot, a spotted wildcat.

Biden himself put an end to the wall construction started by Trump in 2021, but he is now facing a similar idea that some politicians say is a starting point for a change in Biden’s immigration policy.
