MP Frédéric Beauchemin is suspended from the PLQ caucus –

Liberal MP Frédéric Beauchemin was suspended from the parliamentary group meeting on Saturday following a bullying complaint against him.

The member for Marguerite-Bourgeoys is the target of a complaint about bullying by the president of the Young Liberals, Élyse Moisan. The complaint is also directed against three MP employees.

The complainant, Élyse Moisan, who is also a parliamentary researcher for the official opposition, claims to have been “in tears” after a meeting with the elected official. She said she felt “harassed, intimidated and threatened” during another meeting with the three employees.

In a press release, interim leader of the Liberal Party of Quebec (PLQ), Marc Tanguay, called on Frédéric Beauchemin “to withdraw from the Liberal caucus until the clarification processes are completed.”

The MP reacted on X (formerly Twitter) a few minutes after learning of the decision of the interim leader of the PLQ.

“I have no doubt that I will quickly reunite with my colleagues at the end of the process already underway, in which I am fully cooperating,” he wrote.

“I remain a proud Liberal member and will continue to fulfill my role as an MP and meet activists to help revitalize the Quebec Liberal Party,” the MP added.

Frédéric Beauchemin was the only candidate who expressed interest in succeeding Dominique Anglade as party leader.
