Expression of solidarity from the Berlin government
07/10/23 | 9:35 p.m.
To express its solidarity with Israel, the Berlin government lit up the Brandenburg Gate in Israeli national colors on Saturday night. At 9pm, the building glowed blue and white for 15 minutes. A Star of David could be seen in the center of the quadriga. At 10:45 pm the gate will be illuminated for the second time in Israeli colors.
The backdrop to the action is the fighting in southern Israel that has been going on since Saturday morning. Fighters from the Islamic terrorist organization Hamas entered Israel from the Gaza Strip. They also fired several thousand rockets at the Jewish State. According to media reports, hundreds of people were killed in the fighting.

Mayor Wegner: “Berlin stands unwaveringly on Israel’s side”
As rbb found, the campaign is based on the will of Mayor Kai Wegner. “My thoughts are with the people of Israel, with the families and friends who are now mourning the victims and fearing for the people kidnapped,” said the CDU politician on Saturday. Berlin stands firmly with Israel at this difficult time. “But I also appeal to all people in Berlin to be prudent and live together in peace.”
