Several rivers burst their banks in Charlevoix on Sunday morning, while heavy rains over the last 24 hours caused levels to rise in many watercourses. The Genévrier campsite, which was hit by floods in May, was once again inundated by the waters of the Mares River.
According to Environment Canada, 135 millimeters of rain fell in the Baie-Saint-Paul region over the weekend.
The Genévrier campsite was flooded for the third time this year. Campers had to clear the area as a precaution, but there were no injuries.

On Sunday morning, the Rivière du Gouffre water monitoring station in Saint-Urbain, north of Baie-Saint-Paul, reported a “major flood”.

There was severe flooding on the Gouffre River at 10:45 a.m. on Sunday.

The Ministry of Environment, Climate Change, Wildlife and Parks expects water levels to continue rising until 1:30 p.m.
Remember that floods in the region last spring killed two volunteer firefighters.
