Big Brother viewers have criticized the new series, claiming the show is “woke” after the diverse cast of new housemates was revealed.
The reality show returned after a five-year break on Sunday with the latest contestants including disabled DJ Dylan, 39, multiple sclerosis sufferer Kerry, 40, and practicing Muslim Farida, 50.
Kerry made history when she became the first housemate ever to enter on a scooter.

Someone else commented: “Big Brother has literally just reached the quota for every type of person.” Absolute joke on woke culture.
However, other viewers were quick to point out that Big Brother has always had a diverse range of contestants.
Saying: “Very varied, I love it – otherwise they wouldn’t interact externally.”
And: “This season isn’t ‘woke’, it’s just like every other Big Brother cast from the 2000s. It’s about reflecting the real people in society.”
Another wrote: “Big Brother is inclusive and the people calling it are woke.”
Another fan said: “I don’t want to be dramatic but I love Big Brother is basically the only TV show that shows what people in this country are actually like.”
Unimpressed: But when they looked at X, formerly known as Twitter, viewers were divided. Some claimed the series was “tick-box” with the choice of contestants (Dylan pictured).

And: “ITV2 said ‘we don’t really do diversity on Love Island, but on Big Brother?’ You get EVERYTHING!’.
This comes after Big Brother viewers were left fuming when they learned that the start of the brand new series on Sunday had actually been pre-recorded.
The iconic reality show’s original broadcast always featured a live opening as contestants entered the famous house. However, ITV decided to film their first episode 24 hours earlier.
Hosts AJ Odudu, 35, and Will Best, 38, introduced audiences to 16 new housemates as the series made its epic return to television following its cancellation in 2018.

Someone else said: “I can’t believe Big Brother isn’t live… that’s the best part.”

And a seventh fumed: “It’s not quite the same, watching it pre-recorded brings Big Brother back live 24/7.”
While other fans loved the new arrangement, one wrote: “I’m not going to lie, I missed Big Brother!”
And a second said: “I love this Big Brother already.”
