Storm Philippe reached the Maritimes on Saturday night and continues to rain rain on the three provinces. Strong winds and rough seas are also expected. Thousands of customers in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick are without power due to weather conditions.
By 10 a.m., 1,400 Nova Scotia Power customers were in the dark, most of them in the Halifax area. About half an hour later this error was fixed. There were only about 200 households without electricity. By midday, only 40 affected customers remained.
Nearly 900 NB Power customers were also without power around 10 a.m. Sunday morning, most of them in the Sackville-Port Elgin areas, Charlotte County and Madawaska.
At the peak of the outages, around 9 a.m., nearly 1,900 customers were without power. Around 2 p.m., around 350 households were still without power.
On Prince Edward Island, thousands of customers were left in the dark in the early hours of the morning. In the morning all deficiencies were corrected. By midday, the number of outages had increased, affecting more than 350 customers.
On Sunday morning there are only a few ferries at sea
On the transportation side, weather conditions make certain trips difficult.
Restrictions apply on the Confederation Bridge between New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island.
Due to strong winds, cars with trailers, trucks with or without trailers, recreational vehicles and buses are currently not permitted to cross. These restrictions have been in effect since 3 a.m. Gusts of more than 90 km/h were recorded during the morning.

Trips between Saint John, New Brunswick and Digby, Nova Scotia are canceled. Affected by these cancellations are the 8am departures from Saint John and the 11am departures from Digby. Afternoon sailings are currently being maintained.
There will also be no sailings between Wood Island, Prince Edward Island and Caribou, Nova Scotia on Sunday. Northumberland Ferries has announced that all services will be suspended due to strong winds, including this afternoon.
Routes between Yarmouth (Nova Scotia) and Bar Harbor (Maine) are also affected by the cancellations.
The routes between North Sydney (Nova Scotia) and Port aux Basques (Newfoundland) were also interrupted all day on Sunday.
