Nvidia GeForce RTX 4080 Ti: Market launch planned for early next year with AD102 GPU – notebookcheck.biz

Without the soon-to-be-released GeForce RTX 4090 Ti or RTX 4050 Desktop, one would assume that Nvidia is done with Ada Lovelace. However, the famous leaker @Zed__Wang talked about another RTX 4000 series graphics card that sits at the higher end of the range: the GeForce RTX 4080 Ti.

Unfortunately, important information such as bandwidth/memory bus and VRAM have not yet been revealed. So far, the leaker has stated that it will use an AD102 GPU and consume around 450 watts under load. This could reflect Ampere, with the RTX 4080 Ti using a scaled down version of the AD102. Nvidia is expected to launch the GeForce RTX 4080 Ti in January 2024, around the same time the company plans to unveil the scaled-down version of the GeForce RTX 3050 6GB for desktops.

VRAM will likely stay at 16GB unless Nvidia increases the memory bus, which would allow the graphics card to start with 20GB of video memory. However, a quick look at Ada Lovelace’s mid- and low-end lineup paints a bleak picture of the RTX 4080 Ti. It should cost the same as the already very expensive RTX 4080 ($1,200). Since AD102 and AD103 are pin compatible, Nvidia could use the RTX 4090’s AD102 chips to house them on an RTX 4080 card and sell it as the “brand new” RTX 4080 Ti.
