Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro are equipped with Samsung’s new ISOCELL camera – notebookcheck.biz

XDA Developers has discovered that Google has integrated new primary camera sensors into its latest flagship smartphones. However, the update does not match what @UniverseIce said for the Pixel 8 Pro. For context, the leaker tweeted in April that the Pixel 8 Pro would feature the ISOCELL GN2, a 50MP sensor with a 1/1.12-inch optical aspect ratio and 1.4μm wide pixels.

In comparison, Google equips its Pixel 6 and Pixel 7 series flagships with the ISOCELL GN1, another 50 MP sensor that has an optical format of 1/1.31 inch and pixels of 1.2 μm. As always, Google has not confirmed which camera sensors will be used in both devices. Surprisingly, the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro also have 1/1.31-inch primary cameras, but with 21% improved light capture compared to the ISOCELL GN1.

Google has not equipped either the Pixel 8 or the Pixel 8 Pro with ISOCELL GN2, which Xiaomi uses in the Mi 11 Pro and Mi 11 Ultra. Instead, the ISOCELL GNV is the only remaining candidate or a custom ISOCELL GN1. For some reason, Samsung has never spoken publicly about ISOCELL GNV, which is already available in the Vivo X80 Pro. Regardless, the Pixel 8 Pro appears to be able to comfortably capture 10x zoom photos at 10x, despite only having a 5x telephoto lens.
