There is an unsettling calm on Menahem Begin Street in Sderot. As the darkness approaches, the silence is only broken by Israeli bombing raids on the nearby Gaza Strip: the army has just launched Operation Iron Sword. The last bodies have only just been removed from the streets of Sderot, but everything bears traces of the attacks carried out by Hamas terrorists throughout the day. There are broken down cars here and there on the street. A white van ended up on the sidewalk. At the foot of the door are a few coins and a bunch of keys covered in blood and broken glass. As the route continues, a bus always stops in front of its stop.
A massacre has been committed: the vehicle’s windows are shattered, the ground is darkened with streams of blood. Stretchers lie on the floor, flies gather on their blackened fabric. Reddened clothing lies scattered among burnt plastic and debris…
