On this day, October 9th, but in 1967, ‘Che Guevara, Reference of the Cuban Revolution, is executed by the Bolivian armya day after his capture.

On October 9, a day after he was intercepted by a Bolivian army patrol, guerrilla Ernesto “Che” Guevara was shot dead in a small school in La Higuera, Bolivia. The Argentine doctor, who had become popular during the Cuban Revolution and had been a minister and director of the Cuban National Bank, arrived in Bolivia in November 1966 with the intention of promoting a major socialist revolution throughout Latin America. The setbacks followed one after another, and on October 8, the 16 guerrillas remaining in the force and Che were surprised by a huge contingent of Bolivian soldiers, the army’s elite. The Argentine escaped alive, but was injured in one leg and had a deep feeling of defeat. He was held at a school in La Higuera, where he was held until the arrival of CIA agents Félix Rodríguez and Colonel Zenteno Anaya. That same day, it was reported that Che Guevara had died in a shootout, but the Argentine remained alive while they decided what to do with him. According to Félix Rodríguez, the United States wanted him alive to obtain information from him, but it was René Barrientos, the President of Bolivia himself, who gave the order to shoot him without prior trial.
