Up to 250 people were massacred in Israel on Saturday at a rave party near the Gaza border, on the first day of the offensive launched by Hamas, a volunteer involved in collecting the bodies said on Monday.
“In the area where the rave party took place, and (for) the rave party itself, my estimate based on the number of trucks, each truck carrying 50 bodies, and there were four or five trucks, I would say, about 200-“250 bodies,” Moti Bukjin, spokesman for Zaka, an organization that specializes in first aid and the collection and identification of bodies in accordance with Jewish law, told AFP.
“I have been volunteering with Zaka for 28 years and after the Meron disaster (a deadly stampede during a Jewish pilgrimage in northern Israel), I thought I had hit rock bottom and wanted to put an end to it (with Zaka) after I saw it had 45 bodies,” Bukjin said by phone as he prepared to return to areas in southern Israel that have been infested by Hamas gunmen since Saturday.
“I thought it was the end of the world, but sure, it could be much worse, much worse,” he added, his voice shaking with emotion as he recalled the sickening spectacle he had witnessed. He had to visit the nearby Kibbutz Reim.
“They massacred people in cold blood in absolutely unimaginable ways,” he said.
