A young Montrealer traveling to Israel tragically died in Saturday’s surprise Hamas attacks.
“Like a true warrior, he walked like a hero wanting to protect the people he was with. Alex was a force of nature, endowed with unique charisma and unparalleled generosity,” wrote Alain Haim Look in a post on Facebook.
His son Alexandre Look is a Canadian victim killed in this weekend’s Hamas attack on Israel, which has already killed at least 700 people on the Israeli side.
Global Affairs Canada also learned yesterday of the death of a Canadian citizen while two others are missing.
According to our information, at that time the young man was taking part in a festival in the desert near the border with the Gaza Strip. In total, more than 260 festival visitors to the Nova Festival were surprised by the deadly shots fired by the attackers.

“It is with shock, disbelief and deep pain that we understand the gravity of the devastating attacks against Israel. […] For the Jewish community of Westmount, this tragedy hit even harder,” the Chabad of Westmount group wrote in a social media post, specifying that Alexandre died “while heroically saving other people.”
