Benefits of the Gorilla Glass Victus 2 upgrade demonstrated in Google Pixel 8 Pro drop and scratch tests – notebookcheck.biz

PBKreviews has now subjected the Pixel 8 Pro to a series of drop and scratch tests. The YouTuber previously highlighted the camera features of the new smartphone before revealing what the device looks like from the inside in a teardown video. At first glance, the Pixel 8 Pro should perform just as well as its predecessor due to its size, weight and use of an aluminum frame.

However, this year Google has opted for Gorilla Glass Victus 2, which Corning touts as its toughest glass yet. Surprisingly, after a few drops on concrete, the Pixel 8 Pro had a small crack on the screen in the top left corner. It should be noted that the damage caused by falls of this type depends on the surface on which the device lands and the angle at which it is placed. In other words, these drop tests may be representative, but they aren’t necessarily the most demanding for Corning’s new Gorilla Glass Victus 2.

Additionally, PBKreviews tested the Pixel 8 Pro’s scratch resistance by throwing it into a bag with dirt and small rocks. As in the drop test, the display was slightly damaged, but the same cannot be said for the camera bar made of soft aluminum. Overall, it seems like a screen protector as well as a protective case or skin are necessary if you want to keep your Pixel 8 Pro in pristine condition.
