The holy city and capital of Israel, Jerusalem, was completely transfigured by war on Monday as its citizens left the streets and the various shops completely stripped of their goods.

“There are very few people on the streets. “I used to go to the supermarket to get supplies and there was practically nothing left: no more water, no more toilet paper, because the people of Israel are expecting the situation to escalate,” explains Nicolas Rosenbaum, Jerusalem journalist, in an interview with TVA Nouvelles.

“We can already see that it has become warmer on the Israeli-Lebanese border. There was a commando infiltration that was repelled by Israel, but then four Hezbollah fighters were killed in the exchange of fire, and so Hezbollah threatens revenge. Therefore, there is a risk of an explosion on this side too,” he added.

The Israeli army worked to regain full control of its territory on Monday, while the Hamas attack represents one of Israel’s intelligence services’ biggest failures, according to several experts.
“There are still terrorists, as Benjamin Netanyahu says, who are on Israeli territory. Then the second operation will be to remove all of Hamas’s military capacity. And that can take many weeks, months. It will cost an enormous number of lives on both sides,” analyzes Mr. Rosenbaum.
