“The situation is terrible, the bombings continue incessantly,” deplored Jehad Abu Hassan, coordinator of the NGO First International Emergency from Gaza, on Franceinfo on Monday, October 9th. After Hamas’s attack on the territory of the Jewish state, the Israeli army began a “full siege” of the Gaza Strip. “There will be 26 hours without electricity, there was already a blockade and the situation was already very fragile,” complains Jehad Abu Hassan.

“The blockade is total, there is no water, no food, no electricity, it will be catastrophic. If the decision is to hermetically seal Gaza, we are heading for a humanitarian catastrophe,” fears Jehad Abu Hassan.

“Everyone was in a panic since the response began. The bombings in the center of Gaza City, on houses, infrastructure, streets, mosques and towers, are extremely intense. The number of victims continues to rise. They are gaining weight. It’s very difficult for everyone.”

“During the bombings, everything did not function normally, especially the health system, which was already very fragile. There are no shelters in the real sense like we can have in Israel, there is no place in Gaza that is safe. At the moment we can’t intervene, nobody goes out,” explains the coordinator of the NGO First International Emergency from Gaza.
