Whitner blasts Prescott and Cowboys after 49ers loss – nbcsportsbayarea.com

After a poor performance on offense for the Cowboys, the spotlight was put on Dak Prescott’s poor performance in Sunday night’s 42-10 loss to the 49ers at Levi’s Stadium.

On NBC Sports Bay Area’s “49ers Postgame Live,” analyst Donte Whitner didn’t mince his words when discussing the Cowboys’ quarterback, who threw for just 153 yards and one touchdown with three interceptions and three sacks.

“Dak Prescott sucks, period,” Whitner said. “They talk so much about Dak Prescott being a premier quarterback and franchise guy. He gives him easy throws. That being said, he’s not a quarterback who can drop back and really exploit and split up a defense. And today we saw it. The 49ers defense made him look like a Tier 4 quarterback.”

Prescott struggled mightily against San Francisco’s stout defense, posting a passer rating of 51.6, well below the league average of 90.5 this season. And with the Cowboys trailing by double digits in the second half, Prescott threw an interception on three consecutive drives, ending any hopes of keeping the game competitive.

Prescott isn’t the only quarterback to have issues with the 49ers’ defense this season, as four of the five starters he faced threw more interceptions than touchdowns in their matchup against San Francisco.
