A songwriter, model and actress known for co-writing a Katy Perry hit has been found after disappearing from her Beverly Hills home for about three months, officials confirmed.

Camela Leierth-Segura, 48, was located by police on Oct. 5 through an anonymous source who reported seeing Leierth-Segura in the city of Santa Monica, Lt. Reginald Evans, a spokesman for the Beverly Hills Police Department, in an email to SFGATE on Tuesday.

“The BHPD watch commander has asked the Santa Monica Police Department to take further action,” Evans wrote. “After SMPD made contact with Camela Segura, she informed them that she was not in distress and did not desire police service.”

Santa Monica police confirmed Leierth-Segura was found in the city. “She was fine and refused help,” Lt. Erika Aklufi in an email to SFGATE. “We contacted the Beverly Hills Police Department to let them know she had been found and then removed her from the missing persons system.”

Leierth-Segura was reportedly last seen leaving Beverly Hills on June 29 in her Ford Fusion. Beverly Hills police previously told SFGATE that she was not officially reported missing until more than a month later, on August 8. Family in her native Sweden and friends in LA led a search for the missing songwriter.

On Friday, October 6, Leierth-Segura’s friend Liz Montgomery posted on social media that she had been found, the LA Times reported. “Camela has been found and is safe,” Montgomery reportedly wrote on her Instagram account, which has since been made private. “We would like to thank everyone for your support, without the support of the public we would not have found it. I can’t give any more details, but thank you!”

Montgomery previously told the Times that Leierth-Segura had fallen on hard times during the coronavirus pandemic, hindering her ability to work as a model, actress and musician. She was reportedly evicted from her Beverly Hills apartment shortly before her disappearance. Her 19-year-old cat Morris was also reportedly missing.

In 2013, the songwriter co-wrote the Katy Perry single “Walking on Air.”

Leierth-Segura was born in Nederlulea, Sweden in 1975 and worked as a child actress since the age of five, according to her IMDb bio. At the age of 15 she moved to the USA. In addition to modeling and songwriting, Leierth-Segura has also directed music videos and off-Broadway plays.

As an independent musician, the singer released the album “Time Heals Nothing” on Universal Music Sweden in 2010 as Camela Leierth. A live performance of the song “So Sad” has garnered approximately 18,000 views on YouTube.
