Singer Gérald de Palmas ends his career due to “recurring voice problems”

Singer Gérald de Palmas, 55, revealed the hit On the way (1995’s Victoire de la musique), announced on Tuesday his decision to end his recording career due to a “recurring vocal problem.”

“I would like to thank the people who have accompanied me for almost 30 years and who have made it possible for me to carry out this work under very good conditions. […] Unfortunately, a recurring vocal problem prevents me from having a consistent voice. For recordings it’s not bothersome, but for concerts and promotions it’s pretty unbearable. “I feel forced to end my career in this way,” he said in a video posted on his social networks.

However, Gérald de Palmas adds that he will release a final studio album on November 10th, the eighth since his debut Under a Lead Sun. A first excerpt, Personne, was published at the end of the summer.

“Everything is good. I’m happy with my career. I’ve had a great career,” he added, specifying, however, that this vocal problem “doesn’t stop him from working for others or recording from time to time.”

The artist was awarded a second Victoire de la Musique for Male Artist of the Year in 2002 and has won the NRJ Music Awards twice in 2002 (Album of the Year) and 2003 (Male Artist of the Year). Gérald de Palmas began his career in 1985 with the group Les Max Valentin.

In addition to “On the Road”, he can boast other successes, including “J’en rêve encore”, whose lyrics come from Jean-Jacques Goldman, and “Tomber”, which was written together with Maxime Le Forestier. Gérald de Palmas wrote the song Marie for Johnny Hallyday.
