With Mirage, the saga Assassin’s Creed goes back to basics with a more concise but equally effective chapter that will delight early fans.
Since its inception in 2007, Assassin’s Creed has continued to grow in line with its successes and ambitions. The franchise offered us the magnificent epic Valhalla three years ago, which took us almost 100 hours to explore. This time it is a more modest and limited playground that Mirage has prepared for us, an adventure that can be completed in about 25 hours.
But what this new offering loses in space, it gains in detail, which is reproduced here in a breathtaking way.
Impeccable historical reconstruction
As we know, the Assassin’s Creed franchise has built its reputation on its meticulous work on historical reconstructions, offering its fans varied settings such as the Renaissance, the American Revolution or the Peloponnesian War. But the care given to Mirage surpasses all previous ones with the meticulous and almost surgical work carried out to immerse us in the heart of 9th century Baghdad.
It’s fluid, rich in details, in short, it’s frankly impressive. Whether you walk in the dunes or near the bazaars, walk along the rocky outcrops of historical monuments, or simply stroll through the alleys of Baghdad, the experience is more immersive than ever.
That’s why we explore the city and its many secrets in the character of Basim Ibn Ishaq, a young street thief. Throughout the adventure – interspersed, of course, with parkour, stealth eliminations and various quests – we will follow his rise among “those we do not see”, a society destined to become the legion of assassins to which the Franchise has got used to it.

Refreshing
And while the handling suggests a copy of the usual mechanics, Mirage has brought a healthy dose of innovation to its controls and strategies. We’re abandoning the influence of role-playing games (the good old RPGs) and focusing more on action scenes and frantic combat. A change that adds dynamism and freshness and will delight long-time fans.
In short, the observation is clear: the Assassin’s Creed franchise finds its purest essence here and will thus allow the new generation of fans to discover the solid foundations on which it has built its undeniable success.
