Umerov: “F-16 discussed with Belgian Defense Minister”
Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov spoke about the F-16 in a telephone conversation with his Belgian counterpart Ludivine Dedonder yesterday, Umerov himself reports on Telegram. “We discussed the delivery of F-16 aircraft to Ukraine and the training of our pilots,” says the Ukrainian defense minister, adding that he also discussed with Dedonder the next Ramstein summit and the next NATO-Ukraine meeting. Council spoke. Umerov described the talks as “productive.” On September 15, Dedonder announced Belgium’s participation in the international coalition formed to train Ukrainian personnel in F-16 fighter jets. The Russians attack Avdiivka fiercely
Russian forces have heavily attacked the town of Avdiivka in eastern Ukraine’s Donetsk region. The Russian attacks come after months of a slower-than-expected Ukrainian counteroffensive. Avdiivka is an industrial city where about 31,000 people lived before the war. Now there are about 2,000 left. Avdiivka is symbolically and strategically important for Kiev. It lies north of the Moscow-controlled city of Donetsk. Since then, Avdiivka has become a symbol of Ukrainian resistance against Moscow. The Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled all attacks, said Alexander Shtupun, spokesman for the United Press Center of the Taurian Ukrainian Defense Forces. “I can say that our soldiers in Avdiivka repelled all enemy attacks and the loss of lines and positions was not allowed.”

Military aid worth 115 million euros from Great Britain and northern European countries
Britain and other northern European allies have announced a new £100 million (115 million euros) military support package for Ukraine. The package, provided by the UK-managed International Fund for Ukraine (IFU), will provide equipment to help soldiers cross minefields and bridge rivers and trenches, the UK Ministry of Defense said. It will also include heavy vehicles to destroy non-explosive Russian obstacles and help Ukraine build defensive positions to protect critical national infrastructure, he added. The new support coincides with the signing of the final contracts of a previously announced IFU package which, according to the Ministry of Defense, will see the delivery of more than £70m of air defense capability to Ukraine. The IFU – a funding mechanism that uses contributions from international partners to provide military assistance to Ukraine – was launched by the UK and Denmark in 2022 and has raised £785 million to date. Contributions come from the founders and five other members – Norway, the Netherlands, Sweden, Iceland and Lithuania – and are managed from London. British Admiral Tony Radakin, chief of the defense staff, said the new package was “the latest in an unprecedented and sustained effort by 50 nations” to support Ukraine’s war effort. He argued that Russian President Vladimir Putin underestimated “the strength and resilience of his opposition.” “If we stick together and stay the course, Russia will continue to lose, Ukraine will win and the rules that are important for global security will endure,” Radakin said.

A mine clearance agreement was signed with Croatia
Ukraine and Croatia have signed a bilateral agreement on joint demining operations in the country at war with Russia, the Cabinet of Ministers in Kiev announced. “The intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in the field of demining opens a new phase of cooperation between governments, experts, specialists in the field of demining and manufacturers of both countries,” said a statement published on the Ukrainian government website last night. “The ultimate goal of this cooperation is to clear the territory of Ukraine of mines, ensure the security of Ukrainians and restore and develop our country,” comments Deputy Prime Minister Yulia Svyrdenko. Details of the agreement include the transfer of technical expertise and specialized security equipment, as well as civilian education programs and capacity building. Croatia has already paid out over one million euros for demining operations in Ukraine. “Kiev is extremely grateful to the Croatian people and government for the political, military, financial and humanitarian support that our state and Ukrainians have received since the beginning of the large-scale invasion,” Svyrydenko added.
