Kibbutz: Which Israeli communities are being attacked by Hamas G1

Terror in Kibbutz Kfar Aza in Israel

Kibbutz is an originally collective Israeli agricultural community, derived from the Hebrew word for “assembly” or “collective group.” The first kibbutzim communities (plural of kibbutz) date back to 1910, before the founding of the State of Israel in 1948.

Although there are still kibbutzim today that no longer have the most traditional form and many have been privatized, there are some communities in Israel that bear this name. Kibbutzim were reportedly raided by Hamas earlier this week (more on this below).

In the original kibbutzim the idea was to live collectively. Children grew up separated from their parents and their time together was limited. What had to be consumed was produced. A Washington Post report said kibbutzim with 50 to 2,000 residents were popping up in places like the Lebanon border, the Jordan River and around the Gaza Strip, many of which were originally built on thenPalestinian land.

According to a report by the British newspaper The Guardian in 2010, the year of the kibbutzim’s 100th anniversary, there were 273 socalled communities in Israel at the time, of which only 60 still functioned on a communal basis.

In 2007, Israel’s oldest kibbutz in Degania Alef, founded in 1910 by around 10 Russian immigrants, was privatized, the Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth reported. At that time, the members of this kibbutz approved the deposit of differentiated salaries into private accounts and payment for the services provided by the collective farm. Like Kibbutz Degania Alef, most of these communities have now been privatized.

Tension scale and kibbutz attacked

The escalation of tensions began last Saturday (7) after the terrorist group fired rockets at Israeli cities from the Gaza Strip. Israel then retaliated against the attacks and declared war.

Zaka spokesman Moti Bukjin told the New York Times that it was a terrible situation and that there were children’s bodies at the scene.
