Washington – Republicans in the US House of Representatives nominated Steve Scalise on Wednesday to replace House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, who was ousted last week. Scalise, 58, has represented the state of Louisiana in the House of Representatives since 2008 and has been the Republican majority leader since January 2023.
