The Jewish community of Cuba, united in an NGO that has never been described as dissident, has expressed its disagreement with the government over the conflict that has flared up in Israel as a result of the unprecedented attack by the Hamas terrorist militias that have invaded its territory .
“The Federation of Hebrew Communities of Cuba completely disagrees with the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cuba on the events taking place in Israel and triggered by acts of total terrorism,” said a post published by the Board of Trustees of the Hebrew Community House on Monday, two days after the attack began.
On the same Saturday that the attack took place, the ministry released a statement expressing its “serious concern” about the “escalation of violence,” for which it in no way blamed Hamas, but rather “75 Years of ongoing human rights violations.” Rights.” inalienable rights of the Palestinian people and Israel’s aggressive and expansive policies.
In the same text, they called for “a comprehensive, just and lasting solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, based on the creation of two states, allowing the Palestinian people to exercise their right to self-determination and to have an independent and sovereign state.” “Within the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.” They also called on the United Nations to “put an end to the impunity of Israel, the occupying power in which the United States was complicit.”
“It is more than proven that the State of Israel has nothing against the Palestinian Authority; the war is with Hamas, an openly terrorist organization.”
The Federation spoke bluntly to the ruling party: “It is more than proven that the State of Israel has nothing against the Palestinian Authority; the war is with Hamas, an openly terrorist organization.”
The organization finds it unacceptable to “justify reprehensible crimes and atrocities.” “The terrorism that has taken place on Israeli territory since last Saturday, of which the international media provides clear examples with videos shared by Hamas members themselves, who filmed how, coldly and with impunity, they indiscriminately attacked children, young people and the elderly , including others, killed.” “The fact that more than 260 young people from several countries innocently took part in a large outdoor youth party in the south of Israel seems to us completely unbalanced and without coherence,” they state in their publication in which they “expressing complete support for the right to defend the State of Israel.”
This Wednesday, the Board of Trustees of the Hebrew Community House reiterated its position and called for the dissemination of news about the conflict, since “silence” made possible the destruction of six million Jews in the Holocaust.
Likewise, there was a voice in another publication praising the “powerful statement” of the President of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele, who “had the courage to say what many do not want.”
The Cuban Federation of Hebrew Religious Communities wrote down its thoughts on the attacks from day one, which it immediately condemned. “Once again, Hamas shows its true face, the face of terror, the face of betrayal, the face of opportunism, the face that many do not want to see,” he said in a statement, recalling that Israel ” warns.” to give the civilian population enough time to prevent the deaths of innocent people, the responsibility of which lies solely with Hamas.
The Federation of Hebrew Religious Communities of Cuba consists of all synagogues on the island and the B’nei Brith Lodge. The headquarters are located on I Street between 13 and 15 of El Vedado in Havana.
