Biden spoke to a delegation of Jewish leaders late Wednesday afternoon (11). He called the Hama attack an act of “pure evil” and said he could see the pain on the faces of everyone involved in the conversation.
At one point, Biden raised his voice and mentioned that he had taken each of his grandchildren to the Dachau concentration camp, where Jews were murdered by the Nazi government. “I want them to see it,” he shouted.
In the US, Biden is under pressure to increase the tone of his statements. He is expected to help negotiate the return of Americans held hostage by Hamas. He said it would be “bizarre” to speak publicly about the details of these negotiations.
